Does it mean that you will pay more money, or more green, or does it mean that the car shipping company uses methods that have less of an impact on the environment? It could mean both, because “Green” solutions are often more expensive. They put a premium on them simply because they can, and they know that people are looking for more green solutions. It is a buzz word that can generate more business for a company that is less than honest.
Motor vehicles are polluting the air
The motor vehicles that we drive are currently the number one cause of atmospheric pollution in the world. Auto transport trucks are a big part of this. They consume more fuel on a regular basis than a regular passenger vehicle. All of that consumed fuel is getting burned, and the by-products of the burned fuel are pollutants that are harmful to the atmosphere. In order to be responsible, we should try to reduce the amount of fuel that we use, and a lot of auto manufacturers are taking the first steps to remove our dependency on fossil fuels by creating electric and semi-electric vehicles. These vehicles do not have enough power to haul cars though, but vehicle manufacturers are making improvements to the large trucks that we use to ship cars.

Companies are becoming more responsible too. For a lot of companies, it is merely a good selling point. By offering green auto shipping services, they appear to be a more responsible company. It makes consumers feel good about their decision to use the green moving company. “They ship green. I like that!” Just because they say that they are a green auto transport company does not always mean that they are. How do you find out?
You have to ask questions. Don’t be afraid to ask the auto moving company what methods that they are using to reduce fuel consumption. If they dodge your questions, then you know that they have been less than truthful.
EPA introduces SmartWay Transport
In 2004, the Environmental Protection Agency introduced a program called “SmartWay Transport.” This program was created to highlight and teach companies how to ship automobiles more efficiently with less of an impact on the environment. The program introduces incentives to companies that are actually shipping automobiles in a way that is considered to be green. This is the million dollar question that you should ask your auto moving company if you want to know if they are really utilizing green shipping, or if they are just using the term green to attract more customers. Ask them if they are involved in the EPA SmartWay Transport program. If they are, then you can rest assured that they are shipping everything green. If they are not involved in this program, then you might want to consider a different auto moving company.
